Starting Spice Company In Puget Sound

I am a wood worker that is wanting to branch out into spice blends and hopefully other things like sauces. I have 5 blends and rubs right now and get great reviews from my test subjects. I want to start out small in local stores and Farmers markets and hope to branch out further. I am having problems coming up with names that doesn’t involve my previous business name. I would appreciate any suggestions that might help get the thoughts rolling in my head.

Jay’s Answer: Why not simply “Puget Sound Spices” or “Puget Sound Spicery”?

Tagline for Homeopath Academy

I am writing on behalf of ‘International Academy of Advanced Homoeopathy’. We are a leading institute which provides advanced training to homeopathic graduates and post graduates across the world. Our mentor Dr Rajan Sankaran has done path breaking research in homeopathy called as ‘Sensation Method’. We are conducting a seminar with him and a team of highly experienced international teachers who have individually taken the sensation method into newer paradigms. All these teachers will be talking about the latest developments in the sensation method. All these teachers have over 15 to 20 years of practice and teaching across the world. This seminar will be very helpful to homeopaths – students and practitioners, to learn the latest developments in homeopathy which will help build their clinical skills and make them better equipped to handle challenging cases. We need a title that will stimulate the homeopaths an urge to upgrade their clinical skills that will eventually help them in their practice.

Need Business Name For Mental Health Billing Service

I am seeking a quirky business name for a VERY SMALL mental health billing company. I am assuming the work from my current position as an office administrator in an 8-clinician office and plan to keep that job. All the clinicians are unhappy with their current medical billing company and have asked me to take it over – in small steps. My hope is to expand the business to other psychological and behavioral health professionals in the future, hopefully by word of mouth. This will be a home-based operation. I was thinking of using the word SHRINK in the title, but am unsure how to tie that into the billing facet. Thank you!

Tagline For Handmade Custom Jewelry Business

Hi! I currently have an Etsy shop where I sell my handmade earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings and cufflinks. 98% of my items are custom…monograms, family trees with children’s names and birthday, handwriting jewelry and cufflinks. …mostly for weddings. ..they can be customized with any saying the customer would like, wedding date, etc. Anyway, I have decided to have my own website in addition to the Etsy shop and I have NO clue about designing it. I am stuck on the tagline. I know that it should be simple and let the customer know my mission, my promise and my brand. I get a lot of reviews that mention the great quality and craftsmanship, that I’m wonderful to work with….not trying to pat myself on the back…lol….just want my tagline to somehow reflect the fact that it’s personalized jewelry with quality craftsmanship. …maybe I just figured it out….”personalized jewelry….quality craftsmanship” or is that too unoriginal? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Jay’s Answer: If most of your business is custom, then make it obvious in your tagline, and tied to an emotional benefit. For example: “Gifts That They’ll Treasure” or “Love Made Personal”.

How Announce Product Consolidation?

Our product series is a year old & is building brand equity. We are consolidating the series from 5 financial products to 3 as a means to better organize them based on how clients use them. Therefore, the product brand is not changing but the individual names are due to this reorganization. Do I move forward with a campaign message that includes the old product names or move towards the revitalize names sans explanation and focus on the benefits of the consolidation? It seems simpler to exclude the mentioning of the old names and focus on the brand & the simplification of the reorganization to focus on the new product names.

Jay’s Answer: Do your clients care about your reorganization? If so, then explain the rationale and educate on the renaming’s strategy. If not, then simply phase in the new name (version “2”), explaining the consolidation from a product/pricing perspective.

E-platform Building – Best Practices

I am in the process of helping out to build an e-platform. Can you help with ideas on where to find a good book or interesting information on e-platforms (such as trip advisor, or the food recipes website, etc.)? I would like to have more inputs on what works, what doesn’t, how information should be provided, importance of picture or not, if people should be able to give an advice, etc… Basically, what are the best practices and key principles to build a successful platforms.

###

Jay’s Answer: The best practices are those that connect with your target audience. So, it all must start from their needs, perspective, and your competition advantage. From there, there’s a lot of learning from your visitors on what they like and don’t (using analytics to help give you data). Ultimately, it’s about the curated conversations you’re able to conduct with interest visitors. As a clue, ignore the technology initially and focus on the experience you’d like to have with someone visiting your storefront. What image do you project? How are they greeted? What do you ask? How do you encourage them to return. Once you understand the human needs, then translate to a technology platform that supports that quality of interaction.

Tagline For Chicago Networking Group Of 100,000

I’m a one person shop but I do own a networking group that has nearly 100,000 members in Chicago. We hold business networking events in the city monthly that are truly amazing. And we’re starting to do workshops and offer other educational opportunities to bring value to the group. For the life of me I can’t come up with a stellar tag line. Here’s the best one “Linked ‘N Chicago: Providing effective and enjoyable networking opportunities for Chicago’s most respected professionals.” I know it’s not good enough. My website is linchicago.com.
