Charity Name Suggestion

Please help with a name for the Foundation we are creating. Purpose of foundation is to provide non-medical assistance to cancer patients such as transportation to and from cancer center, buying groceries, going to drug store, calling to check on cancer patients and home visits for emotional support. We will serve only in our small town and only for cancer patients at this point. I am creating this foundation after watching many people sitting at the cancer center waiting on public transportation after receiving their chemo (should not be around general public because no immune system). I have recently helped 2 friends thru cancer and saw how hard it is on people without a support system at home everyday to help them. My father also died from cancer when I was a teenager and remember how hard it was on our family. My dreams for the future would be that this foundation could grow to other cities.

Live Professional Theatre Season Tagline

We are a professional equity theatre in Chicagoland that seats just over 400 people. We have previously received subscriber complaints that they “have seen that show before” – even if the last time we did the show was 15 years ago. Our upcoming season is titled “Escape & Experience” & I am looking for a good tagline that will entice our current & potential subscribers that have never seen these shows on our stage.

Senior Financial Day

I am a financial advisor and will have a booth at a local senior financial day I need a tagline that will attract people to let them know that we will bring peace of mind with financial security. We have another campaign going of “does the IRS have its hand in your cookie jar” and would like to somehow bring the two together.

Ways To Advertise For Martial Arts School?

I am a very young advertising assistant for the martial arts dojo of my instructor, with whom I began taking classes with at the YMCA three years ago. Ever since he decided to open his own dojo, we have not been getting many students. We started out sharing a building with a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school and were not very successful. My instructor (who teaches a combination of traditional Japanese styles, which he founded) had three students, myself included, for the majority of that time. His business partner (who teaches Kung Fu and Tai Chi) had four or five students. We decided to hold class in a public park for the summer to raise money for a new location. This has not gone well so far; my instructor has not gained any students, and seems close to losing two of them, and his business partner lost all of his students except for two. Because I do not want to be the only student in class, I offered to help with advertising, although I can not do much because I am about sixteen years old. I have tried talking to my friends to get them interested, posting flyers in local businesses, posting ads on local facebook pages, and nothing seems to be working. This week I will be working with the owner on new marketing ideas. I need suggestions desperately. Please help if you can.
Additional details: Both classes involve Asian culture and modern fighting tactics.

My instructor’s business partner has a strong personality; people either like or dislike him immediately. Though he has never taken my instructor’s class, he is used as a sort of assistant instructor, and often integrates his martial arts style with our’s. This could be driving away the people who prefer my instructor’s teaching style over his.

As I mentioned before, I am very young. My instructor needs to approve every type of advertising I do, but he works two jobs and has very little time. He also does not want to take great risks as far as money.

We are a traditional dojo. We do not go to a lot of tournaments or do olympic style sparring. We also do not have contracts or a “black belt guarentee.”

Our classes are $75 per month, with three one-hour classes a week. Classes take place in an area with many tournament taekwondo or MMA schools, but no other traditional dojo.

Jay’s Answer:  How are the other martial arts schools doing in your area? Are their class sizes similarly small? Over the years, the bread-and-butter of most dojos have been after-school classes for children. Dojos additionally charge for each belt testing, new belts, etc.

Most people don’t really know the difference between various styles of martial arts, except what they see depicted in movies. And even so, most people don’t understand the underlying benefits of short-term training and long-term dedication to the study of their art. Ultimately, what’s your sensei’s dream dojo – a community of adults practicing 2-3x/week, a group of seniors improving their balance, a group of people who help their community by showing how martial arts “grounds” them, etc.?

Is your instructor better suited for teaching beginners or advanced students? Teachers generally gravitate to teaching fundamentals (which can be refined over the years) or complex sequences (either form or function). Whatever your teacher’s specialty, the message needs to attract those types of students. Most students aren’t interested in function (the “martial” part of “martial arts”). Most are interested in dance-like movements that make them feel better.

Business Name For A Nutritional Consulting Company

I am looking for help in naming my new nutritional consulting business. I am a new graduate from a Holistic Nutrition program. We focus on healing the body through whole foods and lifestyle changes. I will be working with clients one-on-one, helping them make measurable changes in their lives and see the health benefits through an improved diet. Also, I will be working with corporations, making presentations and seminars to their employees about health and fitness.

I had thought of Sage Wellness, as Sage is an important healing herb, and as well also stands for “spiritual teacher”. However, someone is already using this name. Any ideas for a name that encompasses wellness, nutrition and over all balance would be MUCH appreciated

From a values perspective, here are the values and mission statement:

“We help organizations empower individuals to make healthy and balanced choices that will improve their physical, mental and spiritual health, and inject their lives with the energy needed to achieve their personal goals.

We are passionate about our work and want that passion to be at the core of every client we help. We value integrity, compassion, community and a sense of play in everyday life. “

Jay’s Answer:  If you’re going to focus on corporate customers, then “Sage Wellness” probably isn’t the right name for your offering. Corporations would be interested in having you both help their employees AND save them money. So a name that reinforces that would be a better bet for you. For example: “The Well Employee” or “Better Health”.

Spring Promotion Tagline

I need help coming up with a short spring-themed promotional tagline for a frozen yogurt store. It is a quick turnaround ad and I have total brain freeze (no pun intended :) The frozen yogurt store considers themselves to be a “fun and healthy” alternative to traditional ice cream and other treat options. It’s a new store (~4 months), following the trend of self-serve frozen yogurt stores that are cropping up everywhere. They are attempting to differentiate themselves by playing up the health benefits of yogurt (live & active cultures, low fat/ no fat, non-dairy options), while maintaining a fun, family friendly atmosphere. Bright colors, modern furnishings, a gazillion flavor and topping options (I’m exaggerating, of course, but it’s a lot), quirky/ punchy little sayings (the name is “Yogurtz”, so they like to use “Yo” instead of “You”, and use a “z” in place of an “s” … like: “Treat Yo-self”)

They target young families & professionals in an upscale suburb. (Not a super specific target, and maybe that’s causing my brain freeze?) “Promotion” maybe is too strong of a word, they run ads in several local coupon publications and are in need of some brief headlines for the spring season – a recent ad read “Escape the winter blues” (I know, not top of the line copy writing, but they also have a bad habit of requesting ads two days before they are due).

Tagline For A Software Services Company

I am setting up new software services company. I have plans to develop the company into services, training and product development offerings. I believe in simple, innovative yet powerful solutions. I do things quick and different. I am going to establish the company with similar values. I am looking for a tagline for the company which shows that we are different, committed and we offer best solutions. My company name is VNR Technologies. Services offered are: web development, software testing services, and corporate trainings on technologies (Java, .Net, Testing tools like Selenium, webdriver, etc). I am now looking at UK market, but can accept projects from anywhere. We: specialize in agile delivery, use open source technologies where possible (which in turn reduces overall project cost), and have professionals who have experience in various domains.

###

Jay’s Answer:  Since your company name gives no clue what you offer (or to who), your tagline needs to do all this work. Specifically, who do you plan to offer your services to? Where are they located? Why would they hire you (ignore that you’re quick, different, simple) – what makes you better than the competition? How can you prove it? Are you selling shrink-wrap software? Custom software?

Most of what you list are technology “menu items/features” (Java, .Net, etc.). Your prospective clients aren’t initially thinking this way – they’re looking for help to solve specific problems. For example, you’re the best at developing restaurant software or iPad apps for small businesses.

While “any business which requires assistance in IT development” sounds great, it doesn’t show that you can help them better than any other business that provides such services.
