Seeking Eco Tagline For Student/Business Venture

We are developing an innovative project where local High School students partner with local businesses to clean up the community. This includes everything from looking at what is dumped into the land fills, better recycling methods, planting a community garden. We are looking for a short tagline which highlights both the businesses and students WORKING TOGETHER to help the environment – and the community, be healthier.

So far we have: “Making the world a cleaner (or more sustainable) place one school to business connection at a time.”

That covers it – but is too long and not exactly catchy/cool enough to attract high schoolers. We really hope many local businesses will sign on as it’s great PR in a middle sized community for the business. We want to emphasize the connection between students & business.

Students will be drawing up a poster showing kids and business working together cleaning things up – but we want a fun and short tagline below it – might even be put it on a t-shirt.

How Can I Sell My Tagline Ideas?

I have some tag-lines for various products, how can i sell the tag-lines to that companies ?

###

Jay’s Answer: The short answer is, you can’t sell the tag lines unless the companies have publicly expressed a desire for them. If you have a desire to work for the company that makes the products, then your best bet is to meet with their director of marketing and present your tag lines to them (for free) as part of a job interview.

The problem you’ll face is that a company has no way of knowing if your tagline is any better than theirs (or even if they need one) until they evaluate it. And evaluating it costs money and takes time. Unless you’ve done focus tests, marketing surveys of both potential and existing clients, SEO analysis, etc. you have no proof that your taglines are valuable to them.

Finally, a tagline needs to focus on a key benefit of their problem. Do you deeply understand the product and the mindset of the audience? Do you know what works It’ll take to convert someone with little interest into someone who’s curious about evaluating the products?

Name My Soon-To-Be-Famous Cafe

I need to start an bakery style & coffee selling outlets kindly get me an unique name which can attract the public easily.

###

Jay’s Answer: “Free Coffee”

No matter what names I suggest, there’s no one magical name that’ll do what you want. The first time someone sees the new name they may understand it’s a coffee outlet, but not until they try your offerings and love them (price/quality) will you begin to get a following.

Also, names matter based on where you are in the world, who you’re trying to attract (anyone who drinks coffee? women? college students?), what makes your coffee unique (organic? shade-grown? hand-picked? specially roasted? 10% profits go to orphanages?), etc.

Name My Mobile Foot Spa Business

I want a a business name, that incorporates Mobile Foot Care for everyone. I would like a catchy phrase on the back of my car like “Footspa” I want something funny perhaps for advertising like: “Do you know someone with ugly feet that need attention?”

I am the only one running my business. I work in a hairdressers where I do the reflexology part. I’d like to do a 20 minute Mini treatment while they wait for their dye job. Relax and Dye sounds a bit harsh!

A Fun, Edgy Tagline For A Beauty Product

We will be selling personal care items on a website (don’t want to say name of line because we have not trademarked it yet). The product is natural, great for skin, hair, and face. It has a variety of different uses and benefits. Want to portray the company as being fun, edgy, and beneficial. Gearing towards the younger crowd, but don’t want to single them out either.

Female Ob/Gyn Wants To Tag Line For New Practice

After working for 7 years in an ob/gyn medical group, I am parting ways and opening my own ob/gyn practice. When looking at the other doctors (competitors) in the area where I am planning to relocate, I have the advantage that I am a woman. Also, this area has a high Spanish speaking population and I am bilingual. The name of the practice is First name+Last name, MD, PA.

I am looking for a tag line that incorporates the practice experience already acquired, my gender, and the multicultural aspect of my background. Once the tag line is selected, I will translate it to Spanish to address my Spanish speaking patients.

###

Jay’s Answer: It’s not clear if ObGyn will be part of your business title. Ideally, add it to make it obvious what your specialty is.

Name My Shoe Auction Site!

I am starting an auction site for shoes only (think Ebay for shoes). Iftheshoedoesntfit.com It is an unusually long name for a website but it works for my purposes. Need a tagline that grabs attention, is snappy, and makes sense even without the website name as a stem.
I have brainstormed several – but none is quite right…

Here is what I have in the order from what I like most to least to give you a sense. The first two are the ones I like best but I am concerned that some people will see the first one as “demonic” may sound silly, but I some people may feel that way. I like the second one, but it is long, and the website name is long – I am concerned about a long website and a long tagline.

A Great Business Name For Importing?

Hi Jay, I am at the very beginning of putting into action one of my ‘bright ideas’ , that being importing fabrics, trims, etc to make lampshades, table runners, and the list goes on. I also create art and craft ware for the home. All of this i want to sell, but getting started means having a great business name, this is where i have been going blank!! Because i do quite a varied amount of things i don’t want a name that will limit me to one product, as eventually i would like to import furniture also among other things. Basically, i love home products and i love being at home and working from home. I know this is a big ask, hope you can help. Elena

###

Jay’s Answer: Here’s the quandary you’re in: you’re looking for a name that works for the range of offerings today AND for something that’s generic enough to work in the future.

A few ideas for you to consider:

  • From Elena With Love
  • The Home Import Store
  • The Import Shop
